Along the River
I love strolling by the river. It’s still pretty early when I hit the path, but that’s the best part. The air’s got that crisp, cool feel, and there’s this subtle sweet smell wafting up from the water, like the river’s still shaking off sleep itself. Sometimes you see this thin fog just hovering over the surface, making everything look all mysterious. Then, the first rays of sun peek through, and when they hit the water, it just sparkles. Seriously, it looks like someone poured liquid gold right onto glass. It’s beautiful
Those old trees lining the banks, they’re always a sight. Their branches droop down, their leaves heavy with dew, practically kissing the water. It’s like they’re leaning in, trying to get a good look at their own reflections, all curious-like. I always stop for a sec, just to soak it all in. You’ve got the gentle gurgle of the water, the rustling of the reeds, and every now and then, you hear a branch snap.
My shoes sink in a little, especially in the marshy grass. With every step, you hear that soft whisper of leaves and reed stems brushing against each other, like nature’s own little orchestra. Every now and then, you’ll see a frog make a splash, or a dragonfly just hang out above the reeds, its wings catching the light just so. Everything moves at its own pace here, really slow and chill. But there’s this secret rhythm to it all, something you only pick up on if you spend some time.
Walking a bit further, the whole place just opens up. You get a broad stretch of riverbank, and the sun just beams through the lingering mist. The water picks up all those gorgeous colors from the reeds and the leaves on the trees along the shore.
The path keeps winding, and then I see these little islands popping up, covered in bushes and reeds. The water just ripples around them, so peaceful. A few birds use them as their personal lookout spots. I always try to tread really carefully along the bank, like I’m trying not to snap even a single twig or reed. It feels like I’m stepping into some kind of secret world, a place only a few get to see. Every little sound, every shimmer of light – it all feels like a tiny miracle.
Slowly but surely, the sun starts to climb higher, and the mist finally decides to pack up and leave. And wow, the landscape just transforms! The river gets this clear, clean sparkle, and the banks suddenly look so defined. All the animals that were hiding before start to peek out. Everything just breathes and moves and lives, but gosh, without any hurry. It’s a feeling that just settles right into your heart – a real warm memory of how beautiful and quiet the river and its banks can be.
