“Het Ontsnapte Land“, written by Geert Mak served as a source of inspiration for this painting:
“The meadow grasses are nowadays limited to a few species, and we hardly know the bright color changes of the land anymore: the white of the daisies, the yellow of the dandelions, the red of the sorrel, the gray of the flowering grass itself . […] In addition, there was almost certainly a lighter and more colorful Holland, a landscape by Verkade, by Turner, Monet or the Hague School.” (From “Het Ontsnapte Land” by Geert Mak)
