Inspiration for art
Have you ever considered how special it is that we can read? Text is nothing but a series of characters in a row, to which we have assigned meanings. We can experience a whole range of feelings and emotions just by looking at those signs.
From an early age, I have been fascinated by letters. When I look at letters,I see beautifully designed figures. What I find so fascinating is that we don’t or hardly don’t see those signs anymore, once we can read. You are immediately transported to the world behind the letters.
Based on this fascination, I want to show how text and image intertwine in my head. How they enter into a symbiosis with each other. I do this by making paintings in which I interweave image and text. I use gold leaf and silver leaf that reflect the light in a different way each time you walk by. This brings the painting to life and makes it look different every time you look at it.
I am a graphic designer from origin. I started her own graphic design company during my studies at St. Joost Art School (Breda, The Netherlands). Here too, my fascination for letters and the combination of text and image played a major role. But now I want to create work that is much closer to myself. That is why I am working as a professional artist since 2020. Both the Scryption Museum (Tilburg) and the Meermanno Museum (The Hague) showed my work. In 2021 my work was shown at a number of exhibitions in India. My art is in private collections both within and outside Europe and the USA.
During the pademic, everything went digital, including the presentation of art. An art curator from India saw my art on Instagram and was captivated by it. As a result, I had various exhibitions in India. Soon after, I got invited by Singulart, a leading online gallery based in Paris. December 2021, my art inspired a composer and pianist to compose an original piece of music.
