Art inspires composer (again)

A year back, I was invited by Margin Alexander, a New York City based composer and pianist. He invited me with my art as an inspiration for his December concert. The collaboration went so well that I have been invited with my art as guest of honor and source of inspiration for his concert.

Margin Alexander is a composer and pianist who developed his own unique genre of music. He has performed in countless concerts, created film scores, accompanied world famous artists and held private recitals all over the world. His work has been shared both digitally and live, such as Carnegie Hall, Symphony Hall, Opera America, MAMAC Museum of Nice, Zodiac Festival, IBLA Grand Prize, etc.

Alexander has “shape and color synesthesia.” This is an anomaly in the brain where sensory perceptions are mixed up. This allows him to hear colors and shapes. He converts this perception into music. He regularly invites artists from all over the world to be part of his music exhibitions.

Margin Alexander’s working method fits perfectly with mine. With my art I show what happens in my head when reading. Margins shows what happens in his he’d when looking at colors and forms. He translates his own interpretation of my art into music. He will perform his pieces from New York City. These will be inspired by personally selected works of art, including mine. I feel honored.

Een jaar geleden werd ik benaderd door Margin Alexander, een in New York City gevestigde componist en pianist. Hij nodigde mij met mijn kunst uit als inspiratiebron voor zijn decemberconcert. De samenwerking beviel zo goed dat ik met mijn kunst ben uitgenodigd als eregast en inspiratiebron voor zijn concert.

Margin Alexander is een componist en pianist die een ​​eigen, uniek muziekgenre ontwikkelde. Margin Alexanders werkwijze sluit perfect aan op die van mij. Ik laat in mijn kunst zien wat er inmijn hoofd gebeurd als ik lees. Margin laat zien wat er in zijn hoofd gebeurd als hij kleuren en vormen ziet.  Hij zet zijn eigen interpretatie van mijn kunst om in muziek. Vanuit New York City zal hij zijn stukken ten gehore brengen. Deze zullen geïnspireerd zijn op persoonlijk geselecteerde kunstwerken, waaronder de mijne. Ik voel me vereerd.
